2024: Dignity for Drivers campaign launched

ASLEF launched its Dignity for Drivers campaign by holding events at both the UK and Scottish Parliaments on the UN’s World Toilet Day. The campaign aims to raise awareness of the need for access to safe, clean, and appropriate toilet facilities for train drivers.  The current lack of facilities and insufficient time for toilet breaks impacts the health, safety and wellbeing of everybody who uses the railways, and disproportionately affects women drivers and those with medical conditions.

This campaign and report was the result of a motion submitted to the 2019 ASLEF Annual Assembly of Delegates by the Women’s Representative Committee.
