In light of the Monaghan Report which investigated sexual harassment in the GMB union, ASLEF set up a special working group to look into sexual harassment and to ensure that ASLEF is following best practice as highlighted by the report. One of the outcomes of this was the introduction of a mutual respect policy. The policy is designed to underpin ASLEF’s values of dignity, respect and solidarity by recognising that strength comes with difference and encouraging members to become allies and speak out if they see or hear inappropriate language or behaviour.
