In 2021, a new model workplace policy on domestic abuse, incorporating additional guidance for reps, was launched, building on previous work by the Women’s Representative Committee. ASLEF also supported the Rail to Refuge scheme that allows those facing domestic abuse to access free rail travel when escaping an abuser. This work helped to keep domestic abuse on the agenda, following the increase in cases during lockdown measures where those experiencing domestic abuse were isolated and confined to their homes with their perpetrators.
