2018: Diversity in Freight

ASLEF holds an annual open Freight Forum for all freight driver members to come together, share updates and discuss the issues facing the freight sector.

In 2018 for the first time, a panel discussion on diversity in the freight sector was held at the forum. Speakers included Lee James, ASLEF Equalities Advisor; Dr Amy Pressland, Professional Development and Change Manager, DB Cargo, and Corinne Dean, UK Rail Administration Manager Freightliner.

Lee spoke on the work the union had been undertaking to try and address the lack of diversity within the sector. With a big push to recruit more women both Amy and Corinne told the group about the initiatives their respective companies were begining.
