In 1985, the National Union of Mineworkers attended London’s pride march in a show of solidarity with Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM) – an organisation which had fundraised for mineworkers in South Wales during the strikes.
The story of LGSM and their relationship with the NUM is told in the film Pride.
ASLEF were instrumental in coordinating both the NUM and LGSM to attend London Pride again 30 years later.
