In 2011 the LGBT Representative Committee produced the union’s first guide to supporting trans members in the workplace.
Trans workers face significant discrimination in and outside of the workplace but there are lots of opportunities for employers to make improvements to their policies in order to support trans workers and protect them from abuse.
The guide includes best practice examples of policies for reps to use in negotiations, along with ideas for supporting trans members and colleagues.

The guide was updated in 2020 to reflect legislative changes and also include advice for helping non-binary members. The latest version can be read here.
