In 2005 the first motions were submitted to AAD by the consultative committees.
The Sexual Equality Consultative Committee (SEC) submitted two motions both of where were adopted by the conference:
This AAD instructs the Executive Committee to enter into negotiations with all Railway/Tram Operating companies to introduce a work place policy regarding the protection of staff who suffer from HIV related illnesses and Aids. Further this policy as far as practicable be produced jointly between ASLEF and the Railway/ Tram Operating companies for the best possible practice of dealing with such a delicate subject and without prejudice.

This AAD instructs the Executive committee to enter into negotiations with all Railway/Tram Operating companies to acquire paid release when required for all ASLEF equality representatives, thus promoting Equality throughout all undertakings where ASLEF negotiates for its members.

The Women’s Consultative Committee submitted three motions, the first two were adopted with the third being noted by the floor:
This AAD instructs the Executive Committee to pursue, through the various TOC/FOC bargaining machineries, the attainment of paid release for attendance at cancer screenings and any necessary follow-up appointments.

This AAD instructs the Executive Committee to pursue the formal recognition by each TOC/FOC of its Aslef District Equalities Consultative Committee members, and recognition with regards to paid release entitlement by any TOC/FOC employing such members.
WOMEN’S CONSULTATIVE COMMITTEE MOTION
This AAD instructs the Executive Committee to endorse and make provision for the attendance of the Equalities Consultative Committee members at TUC Stage One Local Level Reps and Stage One Health and Safety Reps courses. Further, the Executive Committee to pursue paid release for these courses from their respective TOC/FOC for attendance at these courses, and, in any instance of unpaid leave being granted only, Aslef remunerate (at Society rate) any such member to attend.
