In 2004 a rule change was submitted to AAD that would see each consultative committee be able to nominate their own delegate to attend the Annual Assembly of Delegates.
During the debate on urging other to support one delegate said:
Sympathy is not what is needed but action is. Give these committees a place at AAD. Give them a voice.

The rule change was adopted by a majority and AAD delegates from the consultative committees attended conference for the first time in 2005.
