2001: TUC Lesbian and Gay Conference

In 2001, the first ASLEF delegation attended TUC lesbian and gay conference.

This conference brings together representatives from all unions affiliated to the TUC to discuss issues at work and beyond which affected LGB people.

The ASLEF delegation was made up of Dave Bacon (district 8), Greg Tasker (district 8) and Ross Jones (district 6). The General Secretary Mick Rix and District Organiser Mick Whelan also attended to support delegates.

ASLEF submitted a motion calling on the government to sign up to Protocol 12 of the European Convention of Human Rights which was unanimously agreed by conference.
