In 2001, the Sexual Equality Consultative Committee launched a confidential LGBT mailing list.
The list, only held by the Equalities Advisor at Head Office, enabled LGBT people to receive news and updates about the representative committee and events that may be of interest.
Following the adoption of a motion submitted by the LGBT+ Representative Committee at AAD 2019 the union is now considering processes to expand its diversity monitoring of the membership. New categories will include sexual orientation and additional options around gender. Confidentiality will still be maintained. It is hoped this will be introduced in early 2021.
